Introducing myself
by Leopold theseconed ini have been introduced to this site by my new friends that are helping me navigate through the reality of waking up and finding out that i have been lied to my whole life.
i grew up in the truth and have given over thirty years to this organization and the few years i wasn’t there my mind was certainly trapped.
the more i think about it i am really not that surprised there was a lot along the way that should have woken me up but it took till recently.

Of the 6 men who were elders, (I was not an elder at this point); ... 2 had dementia one of which still conducted a book-study. We did some paragraphs twice in a row. It was a trial of faith. Another of the 6 was illiterate, in his 40's. He was a yes man until it came down to a lynch mob and then he was a hell of a guy.
The (PO) at that time was a self entitled man in his 4o's. He had the most hypocritical record of all. He gave all the parts on family study and never conducted one himself. He often spoke of how much he HATED the ministry. I wouldn't tell him if I had athlete's foot. What an AH. Once I was an elder too, I contradicted him so often because he was full of sh*t.
Another was very educated. Was a student of Koine Greek at Berkley. A true white collar guy. He was very shrewd, very wise, patient and caring. So humble. I could tell him anything. Loved the guy. So I've known good men on both ends of the spectrum.

Events leading to my decision to disassociate
by Roger Kirkpatrick infollowing is a summary of events leading up to my decision to disassociate from jehovah's witnesses and the unforeseen results of that decision.. a young man named joel engardio produced a documentary about jehovah's witnesses called "knocking" which aired nationally on pbs.
i purchased the dvd from joel before it was even released and we exchanged emails.
joel had been raised by his jw mother and had been active in jw activities during his adolescence, but he was never baptized as a jw.

My guess is that your marriage was over long before you DA'd. That was just an excuse to act on her true desire.

Jehovah's Witnesses Called At My Door
by Roger Kirkpatrick inlast saturday morning, i answered a knock at my door to see a man standing next to a young boy who handed me a pamphlet posing the question, "how do you view the bible?
would you say it is (1) a book of human wisdom?
(2) a book of myths and legends?

My first reaction was also disbelief. Even the most spiritually "weak" Witness would have never engaged in and capitulated to so many subjects at one time. It just sounds like a fantasy. Great information, but unlikely scenario. Great for lurkers though.

I am a proud Jehovah's Witness Defender
by Matthew Jefferson inmy name is matthew j and i have just ended my study with the jehovah's witnesses.
no, i did not stop studying because i believe the jehovah's witnesses are a 'cult', i left due to the minor beliefs that i hold that remain separate from the organization.
i called my elder who is still an amazing man and great counselor, affirming that i do not wish to continue my studying.

Give it a little time Matt, they will avoid you in the future, except the elder who studied with you. He will keep hoping for a notch on his belt for converting you.

Factors that prolong time till reinstatement;
Was the adultery well known? Scandalous?
Did you confess it or deny it?
Have you continued the relationship? Sounds dumb I know but it matters.
Factors that may shorten time till reinstatement:
Are you attending ALL meetings, missing none?
Do you have family who are elders who like you?
Do you contribute by check often?

Nathan, I get that you are thrifty and not out for a grand exit. I think that's my plan too. I'm sure that in your life you have not put a financial burden on anyone else. I am assuming of course. The difference in this case is that there are many people who need the trappings of a big send off in order to process the loss and to "honor" the departed. That's not us. I do not however, feel that anyone was required to donate. Those that did were likely of a mind that it was a needed expense and they "wanted" to donate. I agree it read like an appeal to emotion and lacked an itemized list of expenses. I resist giving in that case too. Again, to some, it just doesn't matter. It doesn't turn people who know the circumstances into dupes. I hope its a grand send off for that money and that the family has peace. Mourning makes fools of us all for a time.

What about the moron pedestrians dressed in suicide black? Fools. Not a bit of bright color on them and they are invisible now that daylights savings is here in California. I swear I am going to inadvertently hit one for that reason. They are invisible in the dark.

Saying hello again
by EdenOne injust saying i’m still alive and greeting everyone, veterans and newcomers to this forum.. 2018 was a year with a lot of turmoil in my life; me and my wife separated, then reunited months later, and spent the second half of the year healing the emotional wounds from that episode.
that, along with a record year in terms of my business meant that choices had to be made regarding my time, and i decided to focus on my marriage instead of other endeavours.
it seemed to have paid off.
